GROWTH MINDSET

Mistakes Welcome Here!

Let's learn how to think like a coder—and no, you don’t have to be a computer genius to do it! Coders are curious, creative, and not afraid to make mistakes. We call this having a growth mindset—it means believing you can get better with effort, even when it’s tough.

What’s Inside a Coder’s Brain?

Coders are like problem-solving ninjas! Here’s how they think:

Think Like a Coder:

  • Break big problems into small ones

  • Try different solutions and test what works

  • Use logic and patterns

  • Fix mistakes (debug) instead of getting upset

Growth Mindset in Action:

  • Say “I can’t do this… YET.”

  • Treat each mistake as a chance to learn

  • Celebrate small wins (like getting 1 sprite to move!)

  • Ask for help and help others

Watch This: LearnStorm Growth Mindset: The Truth About Your Brain

Your brain is amazing—and it gets stronger every time you learn something new, even when it’s hard. This video shows how your brain works like a muscle, growing with effort and practice. You’ll meet Nellie the Neuron and her brain buddies who team up when you're learning.

What To Do:

  • Watch the video.

  • Think about this: What happens in your brain when something feels tough?

  • Get ready to grow those brain muscles!

Think about something you couldn’t do in coding (or in life!) at first, but can now. What helped you improve?
